Heavy rain is expected over the northern, western and central areas of Singapore on Thursday (Oct 29) afternoon.

In a heavy rain warning issued at 4.18pm, the Meteorological Service Singapore said moderate to heavy thundery showers with gusty winds are expected over the three regions between 4.45pm and 6pm.

Checks on the service's weather radar show moderate to heavy rainclouds over Singapore's northern region.

National water agency PUB carried a similar warning on its PUB Flood Alerts channel on Telegram.

The heavy rain warning was lifted at 5.11pm.

In its daily haze situation update on Wednesday evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said showers over Sumatra, Singapore and the surrounding region are expected to keep the regional haze situation suppressed on Thursday.

At 4pm, hourly PM2.5 readings were in the normal band (0 - 55 µg/m3) across Singapore, with concentration readings ranging from 9 to 27.

Meanwhile, the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) remains in the moderate range.
