In a rare break from official engagements, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his Thai counterpart Anutin Charnvirakul struck a lighter note, sharing a musical moment by performing The Beatles' classic Let It Be at an official dinner in Bangkok on Wednesday (Sept 2).
PM Anutin took the microphone while PM Wong accompanied him on guitar, with footage of the performance shared online.
The pair also performed Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind, adding a light-hearted touch to the official dinner.
The musical moment came during dinner after the fifth Thailand-Singapore Leaders' Retreat, the first such meeting between PM Wong and his counterpart on Wednesday.
The leaders had earlier discussed bilateral cooperation in areas, including food and energy security, artificial intelligence and defence.
"Singapore and Thailand are like-minded partners with a shared interest in a strong and united ASEAN," said PM Wong during the joint press conference.
PM Wong said the two countries' excellent bilateral ties, underpinned by a high degree of trust and strong institutional links, give them a "unique opportunity" to work together across their successive ASEAN chairmanships.
Singapore will chair ASEAN in 2027, followed by Thailand in 2028.
