Petrol prices rise a fourth time this week as Sinopec matches Caltex, Esso and Shell

PUBLISHED ONOctober 23, 2026 10:14 AMBYSean LerPetrol prices in Singapore rose for a third consecutive day after Chinese state-owned Sinopec hiked its posted prices for diesel on Friday (Oct 23).
In a price board updated posted at its stations on Friday morning, Sinopec announced a 3-cent per litre increase across its 92-, 95-, and 98-octane petrol offerings, while keeping its price of diesel unchanged.
This mirrored adjustments posted by Caltex on Wednesday, and Esso and Shell on Thursday.
The Chinese fuel company last raised prices by 3-cent a litre on Oct 15, also across its petrol types.
Fuel rates in Singapore first rose again on Sept 14 after over two months of unchanged prices.
For every alternate week since, major fuel companies here have raised prices amid global oil supply volatility and rising crude oil prices.
The Chinese company now ties with Caltex, Esso and Shell for the highest posted price of 95-octane petrol in the country, before discounts.
As compared to its rates before Sept 14, Sinopec's 95-octane petrol has now risen by 23 cents.
The price of the more popular 95-octane petrol now ranges from $3.56 at SPC to $3.60 at Caltex, Esso, Shell and Sinopec.
At the time of this article's publication, SPC is the only major fuel company that has yet to raise prices.
But over the past six weeks, it has been the last to raise prices.
Meanwhile, Cnergy and Smart Energy are still offering the petrol grade at $2.69 per litre and $2.62 per litre respectively.

Oil prices rose on Friday, with Brent crude touching a more than five-month high, after Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia stoked concern over further disruption to energy supplies from the Middle East.
Brent crude futures gained 79 cents, or 0.7 percent, to US$113.96 a barrel by 4.10pm (Singapore time), having earlier reached $114.72 for the highest level since May 4.
US West Texas Intermediate crude gained $1.10, or 1.1 per cent, to US$100.57.
"The market remains concerned about a potential escalation, which, in a worst-case scenario, could trigger renewed supply disruptions," said UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo, adding that volatile oil flows and elevated freight rates have left the market undersupplied.
