Deepavali in Singapore 2026: Where to shop for mithai boxes and gift hampers

Deepavali in Singapore 2026: Where to shop for mithai boxes and gift hampers

Deepavali falls on Sunday, Nov 8 this year, with the public holiday observed on Monday, Nov 9. In the weeks leading up to it, boxes of mithai start changing hands across Singapore. They're carried to relatives' homes, left with neighbours and set out on office pantry tables. For many families, sharing sweets is as much a part of Diwali as lighting the lamps.

This year's mithai box options range from restaurant kitchens that have been making sweets for decades to newer names reworking the classics with miso, masala chai and white chocolate. There are small boxes for a host gift and drawer-style cases suited to corporate orders. Most need pre-ordering and come with fixed collection windows, so it pays to plan ahead. Here's where to shop.

1. Gully Restaurant & Garden

Gully Restaurant & Garden sits on the fifth floor of Holiday Inn Singapore Little India, an Indian street food spot with a poolside garden bar. Its Deepavali gifting this year starts with the sweets. The Gully Mithai Box holds ten handmade pieces across five classics: Rose Barfi, Kaju Katli, Anjeer Barfi, Paan Gulkand and Motichoor Laddu. The Premium Mithai Box goes bigger, with 16 pieces and four kinds of nuts for anyone who likes something savoury between bites.

For a larger gesture, the Signature Diwali Gift Set adds a bottle of Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz, Patchi hazelnut milk chocolates and two scented candles. There is also a new tie-up with Lebanese chocolatier, Patchi, sold either as a chocolate box or paired with mithai. That's a sensible middle ground for households that never agree on which box to open first.

  • Promotion: 10 per cent off the Deepavali collection with code GULLYDIWALI10 on pre-orders placed by Oct 25 2026.
  • Address: Level 5, Holiday Inn Singapore Little India, 10 Farrer Park Station Road, Singapore 217564

2. Shahi Maharani

Shahi Maharani has been serving North Indian food in Singapore for decades. Its Deepavali sweets come out of the kitchen at its third-floor dining room in Raffles City. The mithai are made in-house by the restaurant's halwai, or sweet maker, using vegetarian, halal-certified ingredients and no preservatives.

This year's line-up mixes old and new. There's cardamom milk cake, a roasted gram and jaggery ladoo, and silver-leafed cashew rolls filled with pistachio. The new addition is a coconut and pineapple ladoo called Tropical Sunrise.

The Celebration Box holds 15 pieces in teal or pink packaging, and the Royal Festive Box stretches to 24. For something to keep, Treasure Sugar & Spice pairs mithai with jars of spiced cashews and namkeen in a reusable chest. One practical note: the sweets are best eaten within three days and shouldn't be refrigerated, so time your visits accordingly.

  • Promotion: Corporate rates for orders above 30 boxes. Collection and delivery from Oct 22 to Nov 9 2026.
  • Address: 252 North Bridge Road, #03-21B Raffles City Shopping Centre, Singapore 179103

Adda

Adda is Chef Manjunath Mural's Beach Road restaurant. He opened it in 2020 after 14 years at The Song of India, which he led to its first Michelin star. His cooking at Adda is looser and more playful, and the mithai follow suit.

This year's six flavours include a masala chai barfi built around the spices of the drink, a salted caramel miso peda, and motichoor pressed into a barfi rather than rolled into the usual laddu. Lychee with house-made rose gulkand, saffron pistachio kaju katli and a dense fig, date and mulberry bite round out the set.

Boxes come in four sizes, from the Delight Box up to the Executive Box. The Executive Box packs 30 sweets with a Diwali candle, nuts and savoury snacks. It's a good mithai box for families who already have a go-to traditional sweet shop and want something different on the table.

  • Promotion: Pick-up and delivery from Oct 20 2026; customised logos for orders above 30 boxes.
  • Address: 7500E Beach Road, #01-201 Diners Building, Singapore 199595

Rang Mahal

Rang Mahal turns 55 this year. It opened in 1971 at the former Imperial Hotel and spent 25 years at Pan Pacific Singapore before moving to Naumi Hotel on Seah Street. Its Deepavali collection, Mythical Gardens, comes as a single box in blush pink or turquoise, both decorated with silver blossoms and butterflies. Inside are 12 individually wrapped mithai across three flavours: mango with white chocolate, a roasted gram flour sweet scented with green cardamom, and a date bite packed with pistachios, almonds and cashews.

Two small jars of spiced almonds and Kerala pepper cashews cover the savoury side. The individual wrapping makes the box easy to split between desks or pass around at a gathering. This year, 10 per cent of net profits from the mithai go to Breast Cancer Foundation.

  • Promotion: Collection from Oct 1 to Nov 2 2026 with one day's notice; corporate orders via WhatsApp.
  • Address: Rang Mahal, Naumi Hotel, 41 Seah Street, Singapore 188396

The Hamper Story

The Hamper Story is a Singapore gifting company that works out of a studio in Ubi. Its Deepavali range runs to around 40 hampers, each named after an Indian textile or craft tradition, from Bandhani and Chikankari to Kanjeevaram and Pichwai.

The sweets inside stay fairly consistent: some mix of rose and almond lauj, saffron cashew katori and cashew and dry fruit ladoo. What changes is everything around them. The entry-level sets, such as Champa Kunj, are essentially a 15-piece mithai box in a gold-foiled case. Further up the range come Medjool dates, nuts, cookies and candles in brass, silver or diya form.

Delivery is free islandwide, and orders placed before noon go out the same day. That makes it the one to remember when Deepavali sneaks up on you. Halal-certified options are also available, useful for mixed office gifting.

  • Promotion: S$10 off every Deepavali hamper with code THSDEEP2026 on pre-bookings made by 12 October 2026.
  • Address: 10 Ubi Crescent, #07-80 Lobby E, Singapore 408564 (by appointment only)

Punjab Grill

Punjab Grill has been serving the food of the old undivided Punjab at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands since 2011. Its Deepavali sweet boxes are as much about the box as what's inside. Most of the range comes in sturdy drawer-style cases in royal blue or deep red, stamped with the restaurant's lion emblem, the kind worth keeping once the sweets are gone.

The Executive and Khushi Boxes both pair 16 handmade sweets with dried fruit in a second drawer, and the Khushi can be filled with 32 sweets instead. The Jannat Box holds 25 pieces in an octagonal case. The Rajwada Box scales up to 50 sweets, the one to get for a large family gathering or a busy office pantry. For those who'd rather skip the mithai, the Antique Dry Fruit Box is an ornate, brass-trimmed chest made for nuts and dried fruit.

  • Address: 2 Bayfront Avenue, #B1-01A The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore 018972

SanSara

SanSara, on the ground floor of Grand Copthorne Waterfront by the Singapore River, keeps its Deepavali offering simple: one box, nine pieces, three sweets.

Malt burfi is the least familiar of the three, a milk fudge where malt adds a toasty, caramel-like edge. Dry fruit Mysore pak takes the ghee-rich South Indian classic and studs it with mixed dried fruit. Soan papdi, finished with cardamom and pistachio, brings the flaky, thread-like layers that make it a fixture of the season.

At nine pieces, this is one of the smaller mithai boxes in the guide. That makes it a practical choice for a host gift or a box to share at the office, rather than a full family spread. It's collection only, pre-orders need three days' notice, and the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

  • Promotion: 25 per cent off orders placed by 25 October 2026; MyMillennium members get 30 per cent off until the same date.
  • Address: SanSara, Level 1, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, 392 Havelock Road, Singapore 169663

A few practical notes before you order. Shelf life varies a lot between mithai. Milk-based sweets like barfi and milk cake are best within a few days, while nut and ghee-based ones such as kaju katli tend to last longer. Storage advice also differs from kitchen to kitchen, so check the instructions that come with each box. Then collect as close to when you'll be giving them as the collection windows allow.
