Driver left stunned after woman blocks car, leans on bonnet along Liang Seah Street

A driver found himself in an unexpected situation when a woman stopped in front of his car and later leaned on its bonnet along Liang Seah Street on Tuesday (Aug 25).

The encounter took place around 8.40pm and was captured on the driver's dashcam and shared in a TikTok video by user @jzk.mov.

As he turned into Liang Seah Street, the woman walked into the car's path and stopped directly in front of his vehicle. 

The woman then raised her finger and pointed it at him for several seconds.

"I was the chosen one," he captioned the post.

"Excuse me," Jarett said from inside the car as the woman gestured and appeared to be speaking, though he was unable to hear what she was saying.

He told AsiaOne that her gestures seemed to suggest "she was not happy".

The woman then approached his car, rested her forearms on the bonnet and leaned her body against it.

She continued gesturing and speaking to Jarett as he remained in his car and waited for her to move aside.

Jarett told AsiaOne that he initially felt embarrassed as several bystanders were watching the encounter.

"I also didn't mean to provoke or upset her in any way," he said.

He added that he could neither move the car forward nor reverse without potentially putting her at risk of injury.

Although he considered getting out of the vehicle to speak to her, Jarett ultimately decided to stay inside and give her time.

The woman eventually walked away, allowing him to drive on.

No harm, no damage

Jarett said his car was not damaged, apart from her handprints left on the car's bonnet.

He told AsiaOne that he was not trying to push any "particular angle" with the video, and hoped viewers would instead take away the importance of remaining calm and patient.

"Sometimes it's better to remain calm rather than immediately react. We don't know what another person may be going through or what their circumstances are," he said.

"In this particular situation, she didn't hurt me and there was no damage to my car. Personally, I can still look back at it as something to laugh about."
