Remember the accidental baby selfie trend that took social media by storm?
It seems Singaporeans have moved on from posting babies to hunting a criminal. Specifically, a "Jun Jie".
If your name is Jun Jie or Tan Jun Jie, and you recently saw a social media post accusing someone with your name of theft, corruption or some other dubious crime, fret not, you are probably not in trouble.
Businesses in Singapore recently hopped on a social media trend of calling out "Jun Jie" for allegedly committing crimes at their establishments.
The posts typically start off on a rather serious note, with the business addressing the supposed offender directly.
They then reveal, for example, an item that was allegedly stolen, accompanied by attractive product images.
But before anyone named Jun Jie can start looking over his shoulder, the businesses reveal that the entire thing is a joke, and the alleged crime is often something far more innocent than it initially sounded.
As an apology for the unnecessary scare, some businesses even offer real Jun Jies a freebie.

So how did "Jun Jie" become Singapore's most wanted man?
The trend appears to have taken off after content creator Alex Lee jokingly suggested that the name "Jun Jie" might be cursed.
In a video, Lee pointed out that a surprising number of crime news featured men named Jun Jie.
They include organised crime, corruption and abuse.
Of course, the Jun Jies in these cases were not the same person.
But that didn't stop the internet from deciding that perhaps there was something suspicious going on with anyone carrying the name.
Businesses were more than happy to take the joke and run with it.
They soon began posting mock exposes accusing a Jun Jie of committing an offence at their premises.
A&W, Hello Arigato and The Ma-Thrift Bro Club, to name a few, have hopped on the trend.

Fortunately for Jun Jie, the trend has not remained exclusive to him.
As the joke evolved, other businesses began calling out people with other names too, creating similarly dramatic posts before revealing that their accusations were entirely tongue-in-cheek.
Which means Jun Jies are no longer the only people who have to fear opening their Instagram feed.
So if you happen to see your name splashed across a business' Instagram page alongside a serious-looking accusation, perhaps don't panic just yet.
