Temporary closure of outdoor, non-aircon facilities in 3 regions as PM2.5 readings spike

PUBLISHED ONOctober 14, 2026 10:15 AMBYSean LerOutdoor and non-air-conditioned ActiveSG facilities in eastern, central and western Singapore have been temporarily closed amid high-elevated PM2.5 readings, announced Sport Singapore (SportSG) on Wednesday (Oct 14).
In a Facebook post at about 5.20pm, ActiveSG Circle said the closure is an added precautionary measure.
Singapore recorded the highest one-hour PM2.5 in the western region between 2pm and 5pm, when readings reached 288µg/m3.
Meanwhile, readings in central and eastern Singapore also crossed 200µg/m3. Concentration readings of 251µg/m3 and above are in the "very high" band.
The closure is consistent with the National Environment Agency's outdoor activities guide, which states that when PM2.5 concentration readings reach the "very high" band, healthy persons should minimise all outdoor activities for the next hour.
In such conditions, vulnerable persons, including those with chronic lung or heart disease, are advised to avoid all outdoor activities for the next hour.

This comes amid the possibility that Singapore's 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index could reach the very unhealthy range.
