A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital after his car flipped onto its side on the PIE on Thursday (Nov 5) afternoon.

The driver was travelling in the direction of Tuas when the accident occurred near the Stevens Road exit at about 2.05pm.

A video uploaded by TikTok user chrisengkh shows the driver perched on the car's body.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel set up a ladder to bring him to the ground, and ensured the vehicle is stabilised using wedges.

Two lanes were cordoned off.

The Land Transport Authority said in a 2.12pm X post that there was congestion on PIE till Thomson Road because of an accident.

At 2.35pm, it said the heavy traffic had stretched to Toa Payoh, and issued another congestion alert at 3.30pm.

Responding to AsiaOne's queries, the police and SCDF said the car is believed to have skidded along PIE towards Tuas.

A 64-year-old male car driver was conscious when taken to Alexandra Hospital.

He is assisting with ongoing investigations.
