Motorcyclist caught riding against traffic in Pasir Ris: 'Thought he was going to crash into us'

A motorcyclist was captured on dashcam footage going against the flow of traffic in the wee hours of Saturday (Aug 29).

He "nearly hit" a car in the incident, which occurred on Pasir Ris Drive 8 at about 1.50am.

In a video posted on Sunday, Instagram user caifenngg recounted the close shave, explaining that her boyfriend had just turned into the road from Tampines Expressway (TPE) when the vehicle in front of their car suddenly stopped.

Her video has since garnered over 37,000 views as at Wednesday morning.

The woman, who was in the front passenger seat, said her boyfriend then switched to the right lane to avoid a possible collision, but they came face to face with a motorcyclist instead.

"It was very scary because suddenly my vision was just this bright light coming towards us," she recounted to AsiaOne.

In footage shared by caifenngg, the car which the woman was travelling in is seen braking and sounding the horn.

The motorcyclist does not stop and instead squeezes through the space between the two cars.

Caifenngg added that the biker came dangerously close to their vehicle, and she "really thought he was going to crash into us".

She alleged that the errant motorcyclist continued riding against traffic "like nothing happened" and also claimed he was "going pretty fast".

"Got a scare of my life," she wrote in her caption.

The woman told AsiaOne that they subsequently submitted feedback on the traffic violation to the traffic police.

While the footage was too blurred for them to identify the motorcycle plate number, she alleged that the bike displayed a P-plate.

A motorist who drives or rides against the flow of traffic can receive six demerit points and a composition fine of $200.
