Man found dead in Tampines HDB flat

A 53-year-old man was found dead in a residential unit at a Housing and Development Board (HDB) block in Tampines on Tuesday (Aug 25) night.

When AsiaOne reached the scene at Block 448 Tampines Street 42 at about 11.30pm, a police car was seen parked downstairs.

A male eyewitness who did not wish to be named told AsiaOne that two fire engines and an ambulance were also present at the scene earlier.

The man, who was hosting a TikTok livestream at that time, was told by a viewer — who claimed to be a resident residing on the ninth floor — that he had heard a loud "bang" and felt some vibrations earlier.

AsiaOne understands that this was when authorities tried to gain access to the 53-year-old's unit.

It was explained - that it was the moment when authorities tried to gain access to the unit.

By about 12.30am, several people, including those from the deceased's family, were seen outside the unit. More people arrived at the unit on the higher floor over the next two hours.

At about 1.20am, specialists from the Criminal Investigation Department's forensics division arrived to conduct scene documentation.

A police hearse subsequently arrived to remove the body at about 2.15am. 

In response to AsiaOne's queries, the police stated that the man was found lying motionless in the said unit and was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. 

The police added that they do not suspect foul play based on preliminary investigations. 

Police investigations are ongoing.
