Van seen travelling against traffic in Eunos, police investigations ongoing

A van was seen travelling against the flow of traffic in Eunos on Monday (Aug 10) at about 4pm on Jalan Eunos towards Still Road.

A video of the incident posted by Facebook page SG Road Vigilante (SGRV) shows the van travelling in the wrong carriageway from the direction of Eunos Link.

In the video, vehicles waiting at the junction of Jalan Eunos and Sims Avenue East can be heard sounding their horns, but it does not appear to slow down.

Instead it continues to drive on until it comes head-on with the waiting vehicles.

The van driver choses not to return to the right side of traffic, despite having a chance to do so at the junction. 

This resulted in other vehicle drivers having to manoeuvre around the van, which then appears to drive on, out of the dashcam's view.

On SGRV's page, several Facebook users questioned if the van's driver was drunk or driving under the influence of drugs.

Driving or riding against the flow of traffic is an offence under the Road Traffic Act. 

The offence carries a composition fine of up to $250 and six demerit points.

If an act is deemed severe or reckless, the offender can be charged for dangerous driving.

A first-time offender can be jailed for up to a year, fined up to $5,000, or both.

On Feb 25, Harold Ong, 25, was fined $4,500 after he pleading guilty to a dangerous driving charge.

He was caught on video driving against the flow of traffic for about 3.5km along Bartley Road East towards Tampines Avenue 10 on Dec 14, 2025.
