GetGo car catches fire on Lornie Highway, incident under investigation

A GetGo car caught fire on Lornie Highway on Tuesday (Aug 25) afternoon.

In a video posted by sgfollowsall on Instagram, the white car is seen parked along the road shoulder while the front half of the vehicle is ablaze.

Thick grey smoke is also seen billowing from the vehicle.

In response to queries from AsiaOne, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that the incident took place at around 12pm and involved the engine compartment of a car.

SCDF managed to extinguish the fire using a hosereel and no injuries were reported.

The cause of fire is under investigation, it added.

A spokesperson for GetGo told AsiaOne that it was alerted to the incident and immediately activated a team to provide the necessary support.

"We are glad to share that no injuries were sustained and we will continue to provide ongoing support to the user as needed," they said.

The spokesperson added that they are taking the incident "very seriously", and are conducting a thorough investigation to understand the potential causes.
