PUBLISHED ONAugust 21, 2026 9:05 AMBYSean LerFour data centre operators — Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres, and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres — have each been provisionally allocated 50 megawatts (MW) of new capacity.
Announcing this in a joint statement on Friday (Aug 21), the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said this represents their commitment to partner the data centre (DC) sector to grow sustainably and contribute to the nation's strategic and economic priorities.
The second Data Centre Call for Application (DC-CFA2) exercise was launched by the agencies on Dec 1 last year, with more than 20 proposals received from local and global players.
The exercise called for proposals that would strengthen Singapore's international standing as a trusted hub for artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre investments, while enhancing infrastructure resilience and international connectivity.
Proposals must also address how investments in innovation, talent development, and ecosystem partnerships, can make significant contributions to Singapore's economic objectives.
They must also use green energy pathways to realise the broader goals of sustainable development.
According to a joint fact sheet by EDB and IMDA, the four selected data centres have committed to exceed the minimum sustainability requirements imposed for DC-CFA2, and will power more than 50 per cent of their DC capacity from green energy sources.
"These data centres will also be best-in-class in energy efficiency by adopting advanced technologies such as liquid cooling and using 100 percent energy-efficient IT equipment," the agencies said.
To support the data centre to operate more sustainably, JTC is developing a low-carbon data centre park on Jurong Island to leverage potential low-carbon technology synergies within the island's ecosystem.
The four selected operators will locate their data centre facilities on the island.
EDB and IMDA also said that they will continue to engage industry stakeholders and review the need for another application call in 18 to 24 months' time, with the aim of supporting Singapore's strategic priorities.
