The incident took place at Block 514 Woodlands Drive 14 at about 9.40pm. According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the fire involved the contents of a bedroom in the unit.
MP Hany Soh (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC) wrote in a social media post on Monday (Oct 12) that the fire was spotted by a grassroots leader, who then alerted the SCDF.
In response to AsiaOne's queries, SCDF said its firefighters extinguished the fire using a compressed air foam trolley, adding that there were no reported injuries.
The police and SCDF officers evacuated about 50 people from the affected block during firefighting operations as a precautionary measure.
The second-term MP thanked first responders, grassroots leaders and HDB officers for working with her to provide the necessary support on the ground during the Sunday night incident.
"My team and I will continue to assist the affected residents. We wish them well," she added.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
