‘Which is more nerve-racking?’ Tengku Zafrul jokes about Syed Saddiq’s MoU signing with govt, wedding vows with Bella

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) chairman Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz has poked fun at Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, asking whether he was more nervous about exchanging wedding vows with actress Bella Astillah or signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government.
In an Instagram post yesterday, Tengku Zafrul said he had posed the question to Syed Saddiq, drawing a humorous comparison between the two commitments.
“One is a promise to build a future together with a partner, while the other is a commitment to the future of Muar residents,” he wrote.
The post followed the Madani government’s signing of an MoU with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and several other opposition MPs, including Syed Saddiq.
Tengku Zafrul, who is also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s senior political adviser, said the MPs would remain in the opposition despite agreeing to support the Budget and key institutional reforms.
He added that their respective constituencies would receive equivalent allocations for the benefit of the people.
“In politics, we do not necessarily have to agree on everything. But when it comes to the interests of the people, we must be able to work together,” he said.
