Ho, 64, shared with Malaysian media on Monday that her son, a Malaysian working in Singapore, had allegedly disappeared after borrowing over RM39,000 (S$12,265) from 14 loan sharks across both Singapore and Malaysia.
She told reporters that she had paid off around RM30,000 of his debt prior to this, hoping that the 34-year-old would turn over a new leaf.
But that did not happen. Instead, Ho said she was left to deal with his newly accumulated debts after he disappeared, according to Sin Chew Daily.
On Sept 30, Ho received a message from a Singapore-registered phone number.
The message warned that if she did not repay her son's debts, her home would be splashed with paint. It also allegedly threatened to increase the amount owed by $5,000 each time the act was carried out.
The loan shark also allegedly threatened to set her home on fire for an additional $20,000, according to Oriental Daily.
Last Monday (Oct 5), Ho's home was splashed with red paint, leaving her and her family living in fear, she told the media.
She has since publicly disowned her son and announced that she has cut ties with him, urging the loan sharks to leave her family alone.
