According to The New Straits Times, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said he was nabbed at a petrol station in Tumpat.
He added: "When apprehended, we found four identity cards in his possession.
"He used the cards belonging to different people to purchase over 100 litres of petrol."
The man's case is being investigated under the National Registration Act by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN), and police will review "other relevant laws that may be applied against the suspect".
The illegal pumping of Ron95, which is subsidised for Malaysians at 1.99 ringgit (S$0.63) per litre, has been a point of contention recently.
On March 26, three men between 60 and 70 were arrested in Perak for allegedly attempting to bring the petrol to another country for sale.
Two have been banned from purchasing Ron95 fuel after a video of a woman filling up a large container in their car boot in Johor went viral on March 21. They allegedly pumped over 71 litres of petrol.
On April 1, Malaysia also started banning the use of foreign debit and credit cards to buy the subsidised fuel from self-service pumps.
Such cards can only be used at the counter.
