Lay Zhang reveals he's enrolled in LA university, shares glimpse of campus life: 'Wish me luck'

Lay Zhang has revealed his latest venture: Becoming an overseas university student.

The 35-year-old Chinese singer-actor shared the update on his Instagram broadcast channel on Tuesday (Oct 13), revealing that he had achieved the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score required for admission.

He wrote: "Hey guys, a little life update ... I'm officially a college student now! Back to school, learning new things and chasing my dreams. Wish me luck!"

While Lay did not disclose which university he is attending, he is believed to be studying in Los Angeles after sharing on Monday that he was in the city.

In an Instagram post shared by New York Film Academy's student services on Sept 16, Lay is seen standing on the far right of a group photo, dressed in an all-black outfit.

He also opened a new Xiaohongshu (XHS) account on Wednesday and uploaded his first video, giving fans a glimpse of his life as an international student.

"Hello everyone, this is 35-year-old international student Lay Zhang," he said in the video. "Are you ready to watch my life studying abroad?"

The short montage featured clips of his flight and sightseeing as he settled down, alongside clips of him in a recording studio and operating a film camera.

Lay first debuted as a member of K-pop boy group Exo in 2012 and has since built a successful solo career as a singer, actor and producer. Most recently, he starred in the sports-comedy film Kung Fu Football released this year.
