Jaspers Lai posts parody song about ongoing haze: 'Turned my home into Genting'

PUBLISHED ONOctober 14, 2026 5:55 AMBYEsther LamLocal actor Jaspers Lai has had enough of the haze and he's airing his frustrations through a parody song.
In an Instagram post on Oct 10, the 39-year-old, who was born in Kuala Lumpur, slipped into his popular Aunty Guci persona, dressing up in a maroon long-sleeved top and pearl necklace.
In the caption, Jaspers pleaded: "Not even a single sorry?" before tagging Malaysian singer Jess Lee and adding: "Can you sing this version? Sing the haze away please."
Using a smoke filter to recreate the ongoing haze conditions, Jaspers lip-synced to a parody version ofJess's hit breakup ballad A, B, C, D.
He reportedly spent an entire evening rewriting the lyrics and used artificial intelligence to produce the track, according to 8world.
The reworked lyrics poke fun at the haze, lamenting the seemingly endless burning and smoke-filled air that leave him with irritated eyes and a persistent cough.
He also throws in a few relatable gripes, joking that his boss still expects him to show up for work every day despite the conditions and that he has no money to get a medical certificate (MC).
Taking a cheeky swipe at the transboundary haze, he sings: "You and I are neighbours, how can you bear to turn my home into Genting?"
The video, which has currently garnered more than 1.2 million views and over 40,000 likes, left netizens and local celebrities in stitches.
Among them was actor Romeo Tan, who commented: "Is your house still okay?"
Jaspers jokingly replied: "Can I move in with you for a week?" Romeo readily agreed, quipping that Jaspers could even "stay for a year".

In another parody video shared yesterday (Oct 13), Jaspers donned a school uniform and joked about students getting a break from classes due to the poor air quality.
However, he reminded working adults that they weren't so lucky, quipping in the caption: "But you still need to go to work! Haha! A song a day to chase the haze away!"
