PUBLISHED ONSeptember 08, 2026 2:32 AMBYSean LerA driver in Hong Kong led police on a high-speed chase on Monday (Sept 7), crashing into at least four vehicles and a male police officer before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
The incident took place at about 4pm when police officers patrolling Nathan Street in Mong Kok, towards Tsim Tsa Tsui, spotted a black Mercedes illegally dropping off passengers, Headline Daily reported.
Officers signaled the car to pull over, but the driver refused to comply and drove off, hitting another vehicle waiting at the junction.
Videos circulating online show a number of police officers drawing their batons and striking the car's front passenger window and windscreen in an attempt to stop the driver.
However, the driver did not stop, hitting a male police officer during the getaway.

The black Mercedes was later found abandoned about 4 kilometres away on Yan Yung Street in Hung Hom, near Hong Kong Polytechnic University's student dormitory, The Standard reported.
By then, the driver was nowhere to be found.
A vehicle search found regulated drugs under Hong Kong's Pharmacy and Poisons Regulations.
Both the injured police officer and a female passenger from a struck car were taken to two hospitals for treatment.
The police are on the hunt for the suspect, and investigations into the case, classified as reckless driving and possession of regulated drugs, are ongoing.
