BANGKOK — Thailand's cabinet on Tuesday (Oct 27) approved a 50 billion baht (S$1.9 billion) rooftop solar programme, a finance ministry official said, part of the government's energy transition policy.
The government will help one million households install rooftop solar panels within a year to shield citizens from soaring energy prices driven by the Iran war, the energy minister said last month
The cabinet also approved a cut in biofuel taxes, which would help farmers, Lavaron Sangsnit, the finance ministry's permanent secretary said
It approved the investment of more than 20 billion baht in smart grid development, allowing the public to sell surplus solar power to the government, Lavaron added
