Split-second reaction saves scooter-riding woman from being crushed by truck in India

A woman in India narrowly avoided a fatal collision by clinging to the bumper of a truck headed towards her while her scooter was crushed underneath its wheels.

The near-miss reportedly occurred on Oct 7 along a two-way street in the western state of Maharashtra as the woman was riding a scooter.

A video shows the sand-laden truck emerging from a side street, speeding as it turns into the two-way street. 

As the truck heads towards her, she instinctively reaches out her arm and swiftly grabs the truck's bumper, letting her scooter be ploughed underneath its wheels. 

Her quick thinking probably saved her life.

She is seen walking away from the crash site, holding onto her left arm and leaving the mangled scooter behind.

A crowd can be seen at the accident site, and a bystander appears to be pointing to the truck and scolding the driver, while others inspect the wreckage of the scooter.

Online, netizens have reportedly praised the woman for her agility and alertness.
